Black History Month FYI

With the Olympics starting today, I thought I would honour a Canadian athlete. In my search I came across an athlete whose name was a distant memory from past explorations in Canadian history from a Black perspective. He's not an Olympian (winter or summer), but he is an athlete of note.

GEORGE DIXON is the first Black world boxing champion AND the first ever Canadian-born boxing champion. Born in Africville, Nova Scotia in 1870, George was known as "Little Chocolate"; he stood 5 foot 3 inches tall. You can find out more about George and other Nova Scotian athletes by visiting:
